How to add stickers to WhatsApp
Phone and desktop, no extra app — and how to keep the transparent background intact.
First: make the sticker right. WhatsApp only accepts
512×512 WebP under 100 KB with transparency.

On Android & iPhone
- Open any chat and tap the sticker icon in the message bar.
- Tap Create (＋).
- Pick your downloaded sticker image and confirm.
- It's saved to your stickers — send it in any chat, favourite it, or add it to more.
On WhatsApp Desktop & Web
- Open a chat → click the sticker (emoji) panel.
- Click Create.
- Choose the downloaded
.webp file from your computer.
- Confirm — the sticker keeps its transparent background.
⚠ Don't paste or drag the image straight into the chat — WhatsApp sends it as a photo and flattens the transparency onto a white square. Always go through the sticker panel's Create button.
Sticker packs
Single stickers need no extra app on any platform. Full packs (sets with a tray icon) can only be installed by a native sticker app using WhatsApp's pack API — that's a WhatsApp platform rule, not a tool limitation.
